In a toxic environment, chemical suits and gas masks may be needed. In highly contaminated situations, impervious gowns with mask or face shield may be needed as well. It is wise for the emergency care provider in charge of airway management to don a face shield or eye protection and mask. Protective gloves are always needed, and many situations will require eye protection. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary at trauma scenes. Placing my notes online makes makes them available to me anywhere. This blog is basically my study notes and my peripheral brain. It was an excellent course and I believe that any clinician interested in trauma care will benefit from it. I recently completed the International Trauma Life Support Course (ITLS) at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
